Saturday Night Live is one of those shows that many of us grew up with. Now that it has been around for 50 years, many stars are coming together to pay tribute to something that has made us laugh so many times.
Saturday Night Live fans were absolutely thrilled when Adam Sandler came out on the show to deliver a musical tribute during SNL50. The anniversary special took place in New York City and many fans were left in tears after his performance.
At 58 years old, Adam Sandler is one of the best-known actors and comedians in the world today. He also was a cast member on SNL from 1990 until 1995. He decided to pay tribute with an acoustic guitar to perform the song he wrote called ’50 Years’.
The song was full of nostalgia and humor and it covered many of the well-known faces that have been on the late-night show over the years.
Of course, it also helped that Jack Nicholson was there to give Adam Sandler an introduction. He was also there to celebrate the milestone and made a rare public appearance.
When Adam Sandler started to sing, you could tell that he was doing something special for everyone.

He started out: “Everybody in this room has something in common / all of our lives were changed by the show.
“Everybody in this room has something else in common / None of us were allowed to use the little bathroom in Lorne [Michael]’s office.”
His lyrics then took a different turn, as he began giving tributes to individual crewmembers.
“50 years of young comedians getting hired for the show / From stand-up, Groundlings, Second City, and all the rest / 50 years of cast members saying, ‘I think our cast is the greatest of all time’ / But we all know that the first cast was the best.”
After hearing him play, many people went on social media to say that they weren’t expecting to cry. They openly admitted that it brought them to tears, and I think that many people who watched it felt the same way.

Many also said that he didn’t mention Keenan Thompson, who is the longest-running SNL cast member. There were those who came to Sandler’s defense, saying that it was about past members of the cast and not those who were still playing.
We appreciate the song and look forward to another 50 years.
