American Idol has been responsible for introducing us to some of the most talented people in the world today. This includes in 2009, when Adam Lambert stepped up on the stage.
He managed to get into the runner-up slot on that eighth season of American Idol, singing powerhouse songs written by Johnny Cash and Smokey Robinson. It was easy to see that he had a flare for finding an unusual way to sing the classics.
After spending some time on his solo career as well as being the frontman for the rock band, Queen, Lambert decided to step back onto the American Idol stage. He chose the song by Ian Peebles, ‘I Can’t Stand the Rain’.
That ballad, which is famously known because of Tina Turner’s cover from her Private Dancer album got a reboot in his hands that was absolutely amazing. As he stood on the stage in a leather outfit with blue tears dripping from his eyes, he worked his way through the song in a way that only he could.
It wasn’t just the low notes that made us love this cover of that classic, he hit every high note in the way that only he could. It was an absolutely perfect cover and one that was unique, because it was done by Adam Lambert.
In case you missed it, you can see him covering the song, I Can’t Stand the Rain in this video.
