A Handwritten Letter From Queen Elizabeth Reveals Her True Feelings For Young Prince William

The royal family has always been of interest to people, not only in the UK but around the world. There is so much that takes place in the family, with some of it being good and some of it being questionable.

One important thing that took place was in 1982, when Prince William was born. William’s mother, Diana gave birth to him at St. Mary’s Hospital in London. He became heir to the throne, and from childhood, he was brought up to understand how to rule the country.

His grandmother, Queen Elizabeth was on the throne for the majority of her life and she provided a lot of direction for young William. She was not only his queen, she was also his grandmother and he became even closer to her after the passing of his mother, Princess Diana.

It was not only the fact that she was his grandmother, she was also holding a position that at some time in the future, he would likely hold. That is why it came as no surprise when he was devastated by her death in September 2022.

Many family members have sent tributes after Queen Elizabeth’s death, including her own son, King Charles. There is one letter in particular, however, that has gone viral because it shows how close the relationship was between the Queen and her grandson, Prince William.

It was not an exceptionally long letter but it was something that showed the touching nature of their relationship. They had become close over the years, so sometimes he would receive letters such as this.

According to a royal author, Katie Nicholl, “The queen plays a very special dual role in William’s life. She is his sovereign, but also a very loving grandmother who wants to prepare him for the future.”

It seems as if the Queen started working with William from a young age. Every Sunday she would pull him out of his boarding school. He was 13 at the time and he would tell them he was going to the bathroom but in fact, he was heading off to Windsor Castle to visit the Queen. He hid those weekly sessions because he was a modest individual.

Nicholl explained: “Afterwards, he would have one-on-one time with his grandmother to talk about whatever was on his mind. She was there for him to unload on — but those sessions were also an opportunity for her to mentor and teach him, as her grandfather, George V, did with her.”

She spoke further about the relationship, saying: “They became incredibly close and as his respect for her grew he began to embrace his destiny.”

Prince William mourned the loss of his grandmother and released a statement shortly after her death. It said: “She was by my side at my happiest moments. And she was by my side during the saddest days of my life. I knew this day would come, but it will be some time before the reality of life without Grannie will truly feel real.”

The relationship that they had together was shown online when Royal Household Mail posted a picture of a letter the Queen said to him on their Twitter account. The tweet said: “A card written in the hand of #QueenElizabethII and sent to the young #PrinceWilliam obviously along with an advent calendar.”

The handwritten letter was auctioned in 2016 and purchased by one of the former staffers of Princess Diana. It read: “William, I hope you enjoy opening this each day, Granny.”
