Have you ever walked along the beach to see what you can find? Perhaps you located some seashells or maybe even some sea glass, but the very rare items were often elusive.
Every once in a while, beachgoers are able to find something amazing hidden on the shoreline. This includes fossils that may wash up on shore and when you find one, you just want to look for more.
Many people overlook the possibility of collecting fossils and hunting for them at the beach. In reality, you may find some amazing things at the shoreline, including some shark teeth.
Fossil hunters will often find shark teeth and most of them are quite tiny. Some of them may have been around for millions of years, and they aren’t too difficult to find once you get an eye for them.
For a young girl named Molly Sampson, however, it wasn’t tiny shark teeth that she was after. She was walking along the shores of the Chesapeake Bay at the age of nine when she made an amazing discovery.
It was on Christmas day 2022 when Molly looked down and saw a giant Megalodon tooth. Her mother said that she was ‘beyond happy’ and we can certainly understand why.
Ever since Molly was a small child she had been looking for shark teeth. She even wanted to go shark tooth hunting more, so she asked for some waders for Christmas. When the gear arrived, they started looking for more teeth.
When Molly reached out and grabbed the large tooth with both hands, she said that she was shocked. It was almost as if she was having a dream and she had a hard time accepting it was true.
Megalodon teeth can be found in various areas but finding one this large is rare. It has been around for about 15 million years according to estimates.
