If you have watched any action movies in recent years, you have undoubtedly seen Liam Neeson in action. He is one of the most celebrated action heroes of our time, but he is now stepping away from the limelight.
At the age of 72, Liam Neeson has shown us that age is only a number. He has shown us that he can take a fall, throw a punch, and deliver an amazing revenge line like nobody else.
Ever since he got his breakthrough role in Schindler’s List, he has been on fire in Hollywood. His roles show that he is more than just an actor, he is a legend.
Some of the many movies he has appeared in include Star Wars, Love Actually, and Taken. In Taken, he is best remembered for his phone speech where he told the bad guys that he had a ‘particular set of skills’. I still get chills thinking about it.
Even though he has been in many action films and seemed to be at the top of his game, he also has made the announcement that he is ready to step down. He said: “I’m 72, it has to stop at some stage.”
It’s no surprise, because he still does a lot of his own fight scenes and stunts. That can really take a toll at 72, even if you are in great shape.
In speaking about his retirement, he said: “You can’t fool audiences. I don’t want Mark to be fighting my fight scenes for me.” He then went on to say: “Maybe the end of next year. I think that’s it.”
His latest work is a reboot of the 1988 crime spoof, ‘The Naked Gun’. It should be out this year. He starred along with Pamela Anderson and he was quite taken with her.
He said: “I’m madly in love with her. I can’t compliment her enough. She’s funny.” He then went on to say that he wasn’t sure about his own abilities, adding, “Whether I can carry it or not, I honestly don’t know.”
Anderson knows how he did, however, saying that he was just being humble. She admitted it was hard to keep a straight face when they were working together.
