Woman Who Gave Birth At 66 Years Old Reveals What It Was Like To Raise Her Daughter

Many women look forward to the opportunity of becoming a mother but for Adriana Iliescu, it took a little longer than most. She eventually did become a mother in 2005, but she was 66 years old at the time.

Adriana was born in 1938 and, doing the math, she is almost 84 years old at this time. What do you plan on doing when you’re 84 years old? Like most people, you will probably be thinking about retirement but she is raising a teenager.

As a Romanian university teacher and an author of children’s books, she really got people’s attention when she gave birth to her daughter when she was 66 years old. It took place in Romania, but interestingly, her daughter, Eliza is not her biological child. Rather, she was conceived through a donation of egg and sperm.

When she gave birth, she became the oldest new mother in the world and got a Guinness World Record for it. That record went on to be broken the following year but she got a lot of attention for having a child so late in life.

In the Daily Mail, it was reported that she was earning a pension of around $280 a month and was supporting them with her pension. She was also working part-time as a university professor, making some extra money.

Perhaps something that has surprised her is the fact that she never suffered any prejudice as she was out and about with her daughter. There were plenty of people who called her a grandmother, but if she decided to straighten things out, it was just fine with everyone else.

When she looks back on her daughter and the time they have spent together, she has no regrets. In her words: “Having a child is a wonderful thing. To think that you haven’t lived for nothing.”
