It doesn’t matter who we are, we would all like to accomplish something that makes us stand out in some way or another. It isn’t always so that we can show the world what we are capable of doing but sometimes, it’s just because we want to have that accomplishment in our lives. For some of us, and accomplishment may be relatively simple and we can do it in a day. For others, however, it may be something that we work on for a lifetime. When it comes to a young boy with autism, Brynjar Karl Birgisson, the accomplishment used Legos and it was incredible.
I’m sure that you remember playing with Legos when you were a child. What was it that you appreciated making? When it came to the design from Brynjar, he ended up creating the largest replica of the Titanic. It’s interesting that he was able to do it but what is even more interesting is the fact that he was only 10 years old when he put it together. It was an accomplishment that had many benefits in his life, including helping him with his autism and allowing him to put his words together in a much easier way. When you see the design for yourself, it’s amazing.
The young boy was diagnosed with autism when he was only five years old. He couldn’t use his words as many people do, so he used pictures. He also started to show his love of ships and Legos, so he put the two together and designed this amazing replica.
This wasn’t something that was built in a day. It took 700 hours of his time and 11 months to put together the replica. 56,000 bricks were used in the 21.3-foot long structure. His family supported him through the project and, in the end, it gave him confidence enough that he could stand in front of an audience and talk about it. Watch more in this video:
