5 Simple Comebacks When Dealing With Rude People

We have to deal with people on a daily basis and it doesn’t matter if we are introverted or extroverted, it is likely that we have to rub shoulders with almost all personality types. In some cases, the personalities may be somewhat easy to deal with but in other cases, it can be a very frustrating experience. That is especially true when you are dealing with an aggressive personality, particularly one that is rude. When you have to deal with such an individual, it seems as if you just get more and more frustrated because of their bad behavior.

Although nobody wants to have to deal with rude people, it does happen regularly so it is better to be prepared. As the old saying goes, the best defense is a good offense and that is what this list is designed to do. Rude people are not somebody you want to deal with and quite honestly, they can get under your skin very easily. You may try to avoid them but eventually, you’re going to have to face one head on. When you do, try using one of these 5 ways to deal with rude people and you will find that it is much easier. In fact, you can even use more than one!

1. Let them know you appreciate their perspective

Rude people don’t expect you to be gracious or to show any type of kindness. When you do throw a little bit of kindness in their direction it will typically serve to disarm them. They may even feel that you appreciate them, which can go a long way in helping to diffuse the situation.

2. Say thank you

Sometimes the easiest way to acknowledge their rudeness is to paste a smile on your face and give them a ‘thank you’. It lets them know that you are in control of your own emotions and it keeps them from getting the upper hand.

3. Tell them they’re right

When somebody is rude we automatically assume that they are incorrect but that is not always the case. When somebody points something out to you in a rude manner simply let them know that they are right. It will typically make them pause long enough to move on with the conversation in a normal manner.

4. Bring the conversation to an end

You are in charge of your own time so when somebody is being rude, sometimes you just need to end the conversation. Let them know that the conversation is over or if you are being disrespected, simply get up and walk away.

5. Laugh

What could possibly be funnier than laughing at somebody who is being rude? They will probably not even know what to say at that point!
