26-Year-Old Model With Down Syndrome Wants To Be In SI Swimsuit Issue

It doesn’t matter who we are, we all want to make a difference in this world. For some people, it might mean getting an education and trying to have a huge breakthrough that will cure some killer disease. For others, it might be climbing to the top with their favorite game and perhaps even trying to win a title. Yet others want to do more for their family or friends. Yes, success is something different for each and every one of us but at times, we hear about someone who is doing more than following their dreams, they are inspiring us to do the same.

Mikayla Holmgren is just one of those people. This woman wanted to do more in life and she set her sights on winning the Miss USA pageant. That was back in 2017 and she was able to walk away with a few rewards that showed her she was capable of so much more. The amazing thing is that she was able to make it to that position despite having Down syndrome. She didn’t let it stand in her way and now, she is setting her sights on the Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue.

Holmgren would be the first girl with Down syndrome to make it into that magazine and she has another goal to go along with it. According to an interview, she said that she wanted to inspire others with Down syndrome to go after their dreams as well.

Only time will tell if Holmgren is able to see her dreams become a reality. Until that day, however, there is no doubt that she will continue to push forward as an advocate for others with Down syndrome and to make sure her voice is heard in the crowd.
