Have you noticed how 2020 just seems to keep slapping us in the face? First, it was the pandemic, then the riots and when you thrown in some personal problems and natural disasters, I would say that we are all ready to hear some good news. Well, that good news has finally come and it is coming in the form of a sequel. It is also something good that is coming just before Halloween, so anyone who happens to be a big fan of the holiday can smile and have a good day as well. The news is, pre-production of ‘Hocus Pocus 2’ is finally happening!
Believe it or not, you would have to think back almost 27 years to remember when the first movie was out. Hocus Pocus (the original) was in the theaters in 1993 and it didn’t take long before it became a cult classic. Many people are even considering it to be the best Halloween movie of all time. Even though that was the case, any type of a sequel wasn’t even on the radar at the time. It seemed as if this was just to be a classic that stood on it’s own but now, we are ready for the sequel to happen.
There was a lot that went into making the first movie such a hit. Not only did it have elements of spookiness, it was also funny and even a little charming. The cast of heavy hitters also agreed to do the sequel earlier, but they had to wait for the production company to pull the trigger.
Adam Shankman came out to say that he was writing the script in March. Just in case you missed that news, we are past the script and right into pre-production! Shankman said: “Yep…. Thanks with all of my heart dear @disney Looks like Il be working on a looooooottttt of magic for awhile… I feel incredibly honored and humbled to be guiding forward these two Disney crown jewel legacies.”
Finally, something besides 2021 to look forward to.
