When a celebrity shows up in the news, it isn’t always a good thing. We saw that recently when Amy Slaton made the headlines.
Amy Slaton, the 1000-lb Sisters star was arrested in September along with an unknown man. It happened after police smelled a ‘suspicious order’ coming from her car.
Slaton was at the Tennessee Safari Park Zoo on September 2 when police were called. She claimed that she was injured while at the park after being bitten by a camel.
The owner of the park, Claude Conley spoke with the press at a later time and said that the injuries weren’t consistent with the bite from a camel. There was something else, however, that was going to cause problems.
According to a local sheriff’s department statement, officers smelled a strong and unusual odor coming from the vehicle when they showed up at the scene. An adult male and two children were in the vehicle at the time.
Police inspected the vehicle and then arrested Slaton and the unnamed man. They were transported to Crockett County Jail, and after paying a $10,000 bond, they left hand in hand.
Tammy Slaton, her sister picked up the children and apparently had custody of them at the time.
Reports are that Amy was arrested for being in possession of marijuana and illegal mushrooms. Both of those were not hidden in the vehicle and were in plain sight.
Amy has not yet addressed the incident, despite being back on social media and sharing pictures of her children on Halloween. Since then she has pled guilty to several charges.
Slaton was in possession of Schedule I and Schedule VI drugs and faced two counts of child endangerment but is only being charged with possession as part of a plea deal. The charges of child endangerment and abuse have been dismissed.
