There are many things that you may choose to give somebody but perhaps the greatest gift that you could possibly give is the gift of a loving family. The problem is, there are far too many children out there who are not part of a family and even though they have that desire in their heart, they never really see it fulfilled. Then again, there are also many kindhearted people who do their best to make sure that at least one of those children has the family life they desire.
That was the case with Paige and Daniel Zezulka of Athens, Georgia. They give a new meaning to offering a family to others because, for the past three years, they have been foster parents to 3 children. All of the children are under 10 years of age and they have had a difficult road in life. Ivey was the oldest of the three, a young girl who had dreamed about the day that she could call somebody mom and dad. Of course, she considers Daniel and Paige to be her father and mother but it was not official for a very long time.
Paige and Daniel took care of the three foster children and gave them all the love and affection that they could possibly want. They realized that they were missing that part of their lives, so they formed a bond with the kids that continues to grow stronger every day.
Adoption isn’t something that happens overnight, so Paige and Daniel were working on it behind-the-scenes for a very long time. As it turns out, it was Ivey’s birthday and she was enjoying unwrapping her present but that they had one more for her. It was a small box that contained the best gift of all.
As she opened the box, they were waiting for her reaction. When she realized what it was, she exclaimed: “I’m going to be adopted?” The tears started flowing instantly.
“We love you, sweetheart. We’ll always be your parents,” Daniel whispers to the young girl.
“Can you believe it? God is too good,” Paige tearfully tells her daughter. You really can’t watch this without crying along with all of them. “This will be my favorite video I ever share,” Paige wrote when she shared the video on Facebook. “This was the day we told our daughter that we were going to be able to adopt her (and her brother and sister)!
“She had been praying to be adopted and we found out on her birthday that it was going to happen! God’s timing was perfect! Our kids spent 1,128 days in foster care, over 3 years. It is so hard on children to live in such uncertainty. Adoption is amazing and we want others to know that adopting older children and sibling groups can be the most beautiful adventure you could ever have!”
On August 24, the entire family went to court and welcomed all three children as members of their household.
