Sweet 5-year-old Boy Insists He And His Classmate Look Like Twins

Kindergartner, Myles, and his buddy are the best of friends and simply inseparable. The two boys had yet to play at each other’s house but spent lots of time together at school. That’s why when “Twin Day” came around in his school, Myles knew right away who he wanted to match. Miles remembered to tell his mom Britney Tankersley at bedtime about the special day and that he wished to match with his buddy, Tanner.  Myles just kept insisting on how much he and his buddy looked and that his friend was the only one who he could pair with on Twin Day.

At first, his mom was a bit put off. She didn’t even know who Tanner was, much less had a way of reaching out to his mom, which would mean no matching outfits. “He went on and on about how they looked exactly the same. ‘We both have brown eyes, we both have dark hair,’ and he was just adamant … so I head to Walmart, and I’m like, irritated. I’m like, this is too late. I’m too old for this.” Britney would spend an hour trying to track down Myles’ friend’s mom before heading to a store near their home in Alabama around 9 pm. She found two adorable plaid “Future Leader” button-down shirts in their sizes.

After finishing up all her post-bedtime scavenging for the right Twin Day outfits, Britney darn sure wanted to get a photo for all her hard work. She asked Myle’s teacher to snap a quick picture of her son and his twin for the day.

Myles, who wears a cochlear implant, would constantly insist that he and his best friend Tanner were twins and difficult to tell apart, so she could not wait to see how they looked together in matching outfits.

When the teacher sent Britney the photo, the mom was stunned.

“Obviously two very different children, but Myles didn’t see that. Wouldn’t the world be such a better place if we could all view it through the eyes of a couple five-year-olds?”

Tankersley shared the heartwarming photo on her Facebook page, where it has since gone viral and has been shared over 250,000 times.

“It’s so crazy. My objective is never to be in the spotlight, but I think the message is more important than how much it exploded.”

Myles and Tanner are truly “the best of buddies,” Tankersley said. And best of all, they only live a few minutes away from each other. Ever since Twin Day, the families have spent a lot of time together so the boys could have playdates outside of school.

The teachers at the school were absolutely thrilled to see Tanner and Myles dressed in matching clothes. They agreed it was a very touching scene.

“There’s always a lot of kids that dress up that don’t look alike, but this was unique. I was kind of put in my place because I was expecting to see something totally different, and that’s not what it was at all.”

Britney is most certainly correct that this world would be a much better place if everyone could see things through the eyes of a child.
