Seniors Go To Local Jail For A Visit, Bring Stone-Cold Inmates To Tears With Beautiful Song

What is the first thing that comes to your mind when you think about inmates? Many of us have a very negative impression of men and women who are hardened criminals. We might also feel as if they are not capable of showing any emotion. If that is the mental image you have, you might want to rethink it. This video shows the softer side of inmates and it is sure to make you look at them differently from this moment forward.

The scene unfolded at the Hampshire County Jail. A group of senior citizens visited that day, but they weren’t there to talk, they were there to sing. They stood in front of this group of inmates and when they started to sing their song, the emotions started pouring out of the inmates. They may have thought their music would have an impact but nobody could have imagined that those inmates would react in quite this way.

The group that visited that day was the Young at Heart Chorus. It was a group of older individuals who all had a very special connection; their love for music. Most of us can appreciate this love and how it bonds us together. For these singers, however, it was something special.

When the chorus came into the jail, they had everything set up for the performance. They were singing in the outside courtyard and the inmates were sitting right there in the grass to watch. The stage was truly set for something spectacular.

A man came forward and mentioned that one of their members had passed away that day. The entire performance would be dedicated to him. He also announced that they would be singing the Bob Dylan song, Forever Young. Most of the inmates there that day would have a strong attachment to that song.

When one of the women in the chorus stepped up to the microphone, she started pouring the song from her heart. Before long, a man takes her position and continues singing. The song continued but what was incredible was the reaction of the inmates. They were silent and some of them looked like they had tears in their eyes.

Perhaps it was the age of those singing or perhaps it was the choice of song that caused such a reaction. One thing is certain, what they did was striking a chord with the inmates and it is sure to move you as well.
