Fed Up With Rude Customers, Owner Decides To Teach Them A Lesson With Brutally Honest Sign

If you have been around for any length of time, you realize that things are changing in the world rather quickly. I’m not talking about the state of affairs in foreign nations or the fact that people are upset over everything from politics to the price of gasoline. What am talking about is the fact that people just don’t seem to be as polite as they were in the past. Of course, we all forget to say please and thank you on occasion and sometimes, we may even seem downright rude. There are times, however, when people do this on a regular basis and it is just wrong.

Austin Sims is a coffee shop owner in Roanoke and he was tired of the rude customers coming into his shop every day. That is when he decided to put a sign out front and it has gotten a lot of attention online. He said, “I decided because I need to solve all of the injustices of the world to start charging more for people who didn’t take the time to say hello and connect and realize we’re all people behind the counter.”

The sign in front of the shop reads, “ ‘Small coffee’ $5; ‘Small coffee, please’ $3; ‘Hello, I’d like one small coffee please’ $1.75.”

He thought that it would have a minor impact but the pictures of the sign have gone viral and gotten responses from around the world. People were congratulating him on making customers use their manners and they thought it should be done more often these days.

In addition, he inspired other shop owners to begin doing the same thing. It is true that people should realize that it is important to be nice to each other. Even if you are strangers and it is somebody that you will never meet again, good manners go a long way.

This coffee shop owner was not trying to be famous. He just wanted to be funny and to bring out the special point to his customers. The fact of the matter is, people tend to be losing manners and it is a frustrating situation. Every one of us deserves to receive respect and kindness and to give in return.

“I don’t get people. Kindness is awesome, loving, genuinely caring…that’s life to me. Without kindness, there is nothing. And as a bonus, it always always comes back to you,” commented Nan Patti Gregory.

We couldn’t agree more.
