There are times when we feel compelled to step up to the plate and do the right thing. The situation behind it may differ from one person to another but when we see it unfold in front of us, we know we have to react. That is how Courtney Adeleye felt when she heard what was happening with her daughter’s teacher. She was having some real financial struggles and Courtney knew that she had to step in and take charge. The rumors were flying around the community that her teacher had to take public transportation to school every day because she couldn’t afford a vehicle.
Teachers have a busy schedule, and Courtney understands what it is like to have a busy schedule. She is the founder and CEO of The Mane Choice haircare products, and she was in a position to help. She knew that the hours of extra time that the commute added to the teacher’s busy life was not helping matters so she and her husband made a decision. They were about to do something special for this amazing teacher.
They talked for a while about what they should do and then Courtney decided that they were going to buy the teacher a brand-new car. It was expensive but they knew that having a vehicle would change her life.
They went to the car lot, selected a new car and even wrapped it with a blue ribbon. As you can imagine, it was an amazing surprise.
When it came time to hand over the keys, she could hardly contain her excitement. Was the teacher going to be offended or would she understand and accept the kind gesture?
Courtney’s daughter recorded everything with a video and then captioned it:
“When my husband tells me that the teacher who has been teaching my girls for the last few years has been catching multiple buses to get to and from work every day in the hot sun and cold! He said we should give her something I said… say no more! When you ask me to define success… this is my response!”
Courtney would rather use her money to help others than buying herself something that she didn’t really need.
When Courtney handed the keys to the car to the teacher, she broke down and cried. It was exactly what she needed. She hugged Courtney and thanked her many times. Her life just changed in the blink of an eye.
The teacher said:
“No more sitting in the cold, no more riding the bus, no more waiting on somebody to come and pick me up!”
It is more than just a new car, Courtney paid it off completely. She won’t even have to worry about a car payment.
The world could use more people like Courtney. People who understand the need to help others and to do the right thing when they are in a position to do so. She is an inspiration to many people.
