Michael Buble is one of those singers that just seems to have some rather incredible talent. When he sings on his own, it can move you to tears but he also teams up with others for some impressive duets as well. Some of the famous individuals that he has teamed up with in the past include Mariah Carey, Jennifer Hudson, Kelly Rowland, and even Barbara Streisand. He has sung beside some of the most talented names in music but there was one song in particular that required a special singing partner.
He had been looking for that one particular partner that would take things to the next level but he had always come up empty-handed. That is when he saw the musical, The Greatest Showman. He finally came face-to-face with the individual that would be the perfect addition to his voice. Her name is Loren Allred and when he heard her voice, he knew that he had to sing a country ballad with her. The ballad was ‘Help Me Make It Through the Night’ and the results speak for themselves.
When you look back over the past few years that Michael has had, you see that times have been tough. His son Noah had a fight with cancer and although he walked away victorious, there is no doubt it took a toll. He even had to step aside for a while to focus on his own health because he was worrying so much about his son and other things going on in his life.
He talked about how much he learned about life with the situations he faced in the past couple of years:
“We’ve gone through so many hard times and we’ve dealt with this, and I’ve had to now answer the questions, that it’s so much fun for me to be able to sort of not look back at the past, and to look forward to the future and be excited about life for our family and my boy and everything. I just wanted to get away and get focused on the good stuff…
You learn a lot about life and what’s important and what matters, and you stop sweating the small stuff because you realize that most of the stuff is the small stuff… I did what I had to do and put my family first and do what anybody would have to do, but God, I remembered why I loved making the music…”
Loren gave him the opportunity to sing with her and he took advantage of it. She had the voice he was waiting for his entire life.
He spoke about how much he wanted to sing that song and what it meant to him to have someone perfect to sing it with:
“My concept had always been so strong. And in my head, it was always a duet, I never heard it as a duet before but I had always seen it as this incredible, sad, but beautiful story of two needy people who just did not have the strength to be alone anymore… I had been watching a movie called ‘The Greatest Showman’… and I realized the actress, it wasn’t her singing, so I frantically started to comb YouTube to find out who this was… and I found Loren Allred!”
When you hear them singing together, you can’t deny the magic behind what they bring to the table. Their voices are perfect for each other and they admire each other and respect their abilities. We’re thankful that we get to watch it from the beginning till the end along with a behind-the-scenes clip that really shows more about what took place.
It’s hard not to get chills when you hear it.
