Heavy Metal Singer ‘Disturbed’ Sings A Chilling Version Of ‘Sound Of Silence’

Music is the heartbeat that all humanity shares. It’s being created every second of the day, and there are probably hundreds, if not thousands of new songs being written and performed every week. Some of them are only shared in private get-togethers with friends and families. While others may play on the radio for the enjoyment of millions to hear. While that is true, we also know that popular music comes and it goes. However, every once in a while, we hear a song that seems ageless as it’s played and covered by different artists over the decades.

The duo Simon and Garfunkel have their fair share of hit songs that have entertained fans both old and new for generations while inspiring thousands of artists. One such classic was originally performed back in 1964. It’s called “The Sound of Silence.” The song’s popular because of the haunting melody and lyrics that tend to touch folks on a very deep and personal level. The song is still popular today when we hear the original Simon and Garfunkel recording, but it’s also been covered by numerous other artists.

However, Simon and Garfunkel probably had no clue that their song would have such an effect on people around the world, even though it is over 50 years old. It has been heard in numerous movie soundtracks and TV shows.

It is also a song that other musicians love to cover. And like any great cover, many of them choose to put their own spin on it while trying to stay true to the original spirit of the song. However, every once in a while, one artist comes along and does something so original that their version becomes a classic in its own right. This is the case for one artist whose version has been viewed in various videos over 20 million times.

If you’ve ever listened to the popular heavy metal band “Disturbed,” then you probably wouldn’t expect them to cover a Simon and Garfunkel classic. But when you listen to David Drainman’s version, it is going to leave a lasting impression on you. He has a very powerful, raspy voice full of emotion, and at times he seems lost in the lyrics. When he puts on this performance, we guarantee it will give you chills like you may not have felt since 1964.

You can see and hear his version in the video below.
