Grandma Is Chilled To The Bone When Non-Verbal Girl Suddenly Points And Screams At The Door

When it comes to little children, there are going to be some days that are more special than others. For many, a birthday is one of the biggest occasions for numerous reasons. They look forward to the presents, the family, and the friends. They also want to enjoy a nice piece of cake and celebrate turning another-year-old with those who matter the most to them.

Birthdays are also a very busy time for parents and that is the case with Lexie’s family. She was turning nine and they were preparing for the birthday party but something was going on in the background that would’ve changed their lives in a very bad way forever. The problem is, Lexie was the only one who saw what was taking place but unfortunately, she couldn’t tell anyone what she was seeing.

That is due to the fact that Lexie has cerebral palsy and she is confined to a wheelchair. She can’t walk and she is unable to talk.

As they were preparing for her birthday party, her 18-month-old little brother was putting himself in a very bad situation. His name is Leland and only Lexie saw what was taking place.

Kelly Jackson, their mother, was on her way upstairs to change clothes and get ready for the party. Their grandmother brought Leland downstairs when his nap was over. The party arrangements continued to move forward and Leland was moving about in the kitchen.

It was then that Lexie saw Leland going out through the patio door. He even turned around and closed the door behind him. He was on his way to the swimming pool.

Lexie realized that there was danger in this situation but she couldn’t get up and run after him and she couldn’t tell her grandmother what was taking place.

It was then that this special little girl got all of her strength together and started shrieking. She pointed at the door, letting her family know that something was wrong.

“All of the sudden, I’m upstairs and I hear her screaming… We’ve never heard her scream like that.”

When they looked, Leland was gone.

“She’s yelling and she’s pointing at the door, and I realize Leeland’s not with her. I took off outside and I’m not seeing him. I ran, and he’s right by the edge (of the pool) and I took him out.”

Fortunately, Leland did not drown but he did ingest water. They took him to the hospital and he was given a clean bill of health. He owes his life to his big sister and although she has some challenges, she is a hero.

Her mother said: “I hugged her, I cried and I still thank her every day. Because honestly, in that matter, two seconds makes a huge difference.”

A fence was erected around the pool on the following day. A gate with a special lock was also installed.

Lexie was given awards from the local police department and MLA because of her efforts that day.
