Father-Son Duo Sang So Perfectly They Got Simon To Press The Golden Buzzer

We have all become quite accustomed to seeing talented individuals. We all know that there are talented people in the world but, thanks to the television talent shows and Internet videos, we are now being constantly bombarded with people who sing, dance, do magic tricks and perform in many different awesome ways. We might even become somewhat calloused to the onslaught of talent but every once in a while, we see something that really turns our head.

This father and son duo made it onto Britain’s got talent, but they then had to face Simon Cowell. He is a judge on the talent show and he is known for his harshness at times but he is also known for recognizing true talent when he sees it. When the father and son got up in front of him to sing their song, they had no idea that they would leave the audience in tears and Simon reaching for something that would change their life.

Tim Goodacre is a father of three and a talented musician. When he sings with his 12-year-old son, Jack, it is like watching magic happen. They have been performing together since Jack was five years old but primarily, they stuck to the hometown area of Norwich, England. Now they are getting their opportunity in front of a global audience.

When they talked with the judges at the beginning of their performance, Jack admitted that he loves Britain’s got talent but when they asked him who his favorite judge was, Jack spoke up and boldly said it was Simon. He said he finds Simon’s insults to be funny, but would he like them if they were hurled in his direction?

Jack and Tim wrote a song together for the audition called, The Lucky Ones. Jack says that it is a heartfelt song that means we are lucky to have what we have.

When Tim began singing, it is clear that they have what it takes. After Jack joins his father, however, the combination of voices moves the judges to tears.

“Promise me no matter how the years change us
You’re perfectly and perfect, just how you were meant to be
And all through our lives I’ll be yours
Say you will be mine
We’re the lucky ones. Only just begun
Others leave too young”

Simon looks at them with awe in his eyes. When he talked about the performance in a later interview, he said that Jack reminded him of his own son.

“There was this kid and I was thinking, ‘God, that literally could be Eric’. It wouldn’t be me as the dad, but it could be Eric,” he said. “There was something about this boy, he sang with his dad and I thought the song they wrote was really cool.”

In the end, the judges gave this father and son combination a standing ovation. Simon even later admitted that he saw the other hosts looking at the Golden Buzzer. That is the buzzer that sends the contestants directly to the live shows.

“I caught a glimpse of Ant and Dec ready to run down and push the golden buzzer, and I thought, ‘No way! This one is mine!’” Simon said with a laugh. “I think they are really great people, it’s unusual to see a dad and his son, but it worked.”
“Jack, Tim, I think this says it all,” Simon said as he leaned over to hit the golden buzzer. Personally, I love the look on Jack’s face

Tim was also slightly excited.
