Christmas is a time of year that tends to bring people together. I don’t know if it is the nostalgia behind the time of year or if it is the music or perhaps just the festivities but there is something about it that seems to get to our heart. We see it in many different areas, and there are sometimes random acts of kindness that take place during the holidays that might not take place at other times of the year. It touches us at work, when we are out shopping and especially, it touches us when we are together with family. You will see it in a very beautiful way in the family we talk about on this page.
The family was in a rather cheery mood. Not only was it the holidays and they were a family that absolutely loved the holidays, but they had also recently adopted a daughter so everything seemed to be rather perfect in their lives. They talked peacefully among themselves until it was time to open the presents. This is a time when many families absolutely find themselves full of good cheer but there was one particular present that seemed to stand out among the rest. It was absolutely massive and it was wrapped perfectly for the adopted daughter. She had no idea that she was about to have her greatest Christmas wish come true.
The daughter was talking and she let something come out that she had not talked about before. She wasn’t asking for a bicycle, an electronic device or even the latest style in clothing, she wanted a gift that represented what she felt the holidays were all about.
The little girl was about to spend Christmas with her new family and she was very grateful for that opportunity. She had a lot to be thankful for and unfortunately, it seemed as if her dream gift was out of her reach.
Little did she know that mom and dad had something special in store for her. They brought her into the living room and showed her the biggest box. Her mind was now racing, what could be inside?
She took a close look at the box. It was tall and wrapped beautifully in red paper and had a golden bow on the outside. It looked absolutely impressive from the outside but there was something on the inside that would be spectacular.
The kids rushed to help her unwrap the box. They were starting to really get into it but suddenly, they realized that the gift was not as easy to lift as they expected. They didn’t know if they should push, pull or just continue to unwrap it.
They were giggling when the father came over to help out. He lifted the box into the air to expose, not what but who was on the inside.
Underneath the huge box was the special gift that their daughter had wanted so badly. They flew in her foster sister from out of state. She had missed her foster sister and suddenly, she burst into tears. The reunion was absolutely perfect but the surprise wasn’t over.
The family took things a step further and adopted the foster sister as an adult. They wanted her to have a family of her own.
