There are many different sports to enjoy but I’m sure that many of us would agree, when an athlete is skilled at what they do, they are a marvel to watch. This shows through clearly when somebody is able to do figure skating with style and grace. In fact, if you are an expert and have the right choreography, you don’t even have to do impressive jumps and spins to captivate an audience. Many of the performers who are skilled at ice-skating focus more on their body movements and footwork to create a dance that is going to move them across the ice gracefully.
That is the case with Gabriella Papadakis and Guillaume Cizeron, and they decided they would put their skills to the test by using Ed Sheeran’s song ‘Perfect’. It was not only the perfect song for their performance, it was the emotion that was within the song that allowed people to relate to what they were trying to display while they were on the ice.
When the performance got its start, they were in the center of the ice rink. Gabriella was in a beautiful red dress and Guillaume was wearing a black outfit. The contrasting colors really showed the audience they were about to see something special.
Throughout the performance, they maintained eye contact and held each other in a way that captivated the audience. You could tell that the lyrics of the songs were really moving through them as they synchronized their dance on the ice.
The facial expressions that they displayed were also in sync as well. It was something that just took the performance to the next level by showing so much feeling.
The song was the perfect choice for them and it is interesting that it also carried the same name. It was from Ed’s third studio album and was released in 2017. It had been at the top of the charts as a UK single when it came in at number four. It also managed to hit the top spot at the US Billboard Hot 100. Many other countries also showed their love of the song, including Ireland, Canada, New Zealand, and Australia.
Most ice dancers will also show their talents through a song that really expresses what they want to show on the ice. Since it pulls the inspiration from ballroom dancing, they need songs that will allow them to dance on the ice and not simply skate on it.
Gabriella is well known for ice dancing. Together with her partner, they were a silver medalist at the 2018 Olympics. She has also won many other awards and the pair has six gold medals together in various challenges.
