If you have a brother or sister in your life, you are already aware of the sibling rivalry that seems to go along with it. Even if you don’t have a brother or sister, you see it in movies and on television and is often at the very center of the plot. Let’s face it, siblings have the ability not to get along and in many cases, they are trying to get the attention of their parents and not wanting the other sibling to have that attention. Older siblings may not pay attention to younger siblings and as they get older, they may start to get along but it doesn’t happen early.
That is the story for many children but it is not true for Owynn. He has been wanting a little brother or sister in his life for quite some time. In fact, he even went so far as to add it to his Christmas list that he sent to Santa Claus. I guess Owynn must have been on the good list this year because he not only got his wish, he got it in a rather spectacular way.
His parents, Stacey and Adam Lindsay always wanted to have two children, if not more. When Stacey was growing up, she had 14 siblings and she loved having such a huge family. She thought that it was important for her son to have a similar experience but they tried for seven years without being able to conceive another child.
Five times they had to go through a miscarriage and they had one in vitro that failed. That is when they came up with the idea of being foster parents. They took an introduction to foster care class and they realized that it would be difficult to let go of the child after they had cared for him or her for so long. They decided against it and that was sad for Owynn, because he thought it would be a great way to get a little brother or sister.
That was when Stacey and Adam were introduced to Kendra, a young woman who was putting her baby up for adoption. Kendra decided that this couple was perfect for her baby girl so they could adopt her at birth. They were happy with the news but they didn’t let their son know it because they thought there was a possibility that Kendra would back out.
On December 6, Kendra gave birth to a little baby girl named Naylee. That is when Kendra gave permission for them to take the child home and it was finalized on December 8.
The moment was very exciting for everyone but they were now ready to surprise Owynn with a newborn sister. She was wrapped in warm blankets and placed under the Christmas tree just like a precious gift. When Owynn came home, he found that his wish come true.
He discovered the gift under the tree and it was a scene that nobody will ever forget. His reaction is beyond words.
