Best Friends Build Their Very Own Tiny Sustainable Town Where They Can Retire And Grow Old Together

Many people dream of running and owning their own bar, but have you ever wished you can have your very own town? Well, four couples who have been friends for over 20 years recently did just that, building a settlement in Texas.

As environmentalists, they pooled together their money and built tiny sustainable cabins facing the Llano river just outside of Austin, Texas, according to a report by Garden and Gun.

The cabins designed by architect Matt Garcia cost somewhere around $40,000 apiece and are environmentally friendly. These cabins are designed to be sustainable by taking full advantage of the resources provided by the local environment. The four couples named their settlement “Llano Exit Strategy” and have plans to someday retire on the property.

The cabins reflect heat, thereby staying cool during even the hottest Texas summers thanks to reflective walls and insulated windows. And the interiors are made with plywood which keeps the cost of the homes low. The slanted roofs have water barrels that can hold up to 50,000 gallons of rainwater.

“We just wanted something warm feeling that would offset the coolness of the metal on the outside. It’s a high-design finish that doesn’t cost a lot of money,” said Matt Garcia, the architect.

Four couples built sustainable cabins.

Each costing around only $40,000.

Each of the 400 square foot cabins contains a queen-sized bed, a bathroom, couch, and a porch. And check out the floor!

Using plywood to build the interiors really helped reduce costs.

And how about these kitchen shelves?

This bathroom looks like it belongs in a fancy resort.

“We’re doing what we can to reserve as much water as possible for the native trees and grasses,” said resident Fred Zipp

Here’s a closer look at their water conservation tank.

Thanks to reflective walls and insulator windows, these cabins are nice and cool during the summer.

“It’s like a Disney movie out here. As we spend more and more time here, we find more and more,” said resident Jodi Zipp

These four couples plan to spend their golden years in their settlement, named the Llano Exit Strategy.
