Barbara Streisand And Michael Buble Join Voices For A Beautiful Duet

There are many different types of singers and more than likely, you have your own, personal favorite. Some of them are here today, gone tomorrow but others stick around for a while and some reach legendary status. Michael Buble is one of those individuals who has not only reached legendary status, he continues to thrill people around the world with his music, both old and new. He has a voice that is unmatched but even he has his favorites.

You would think that somebody like Buble would have anything that he wants but there was something that was sitting on his bucket list for a very long time. He wanted the opportunity to sing with Barbra Streisand. She is also a legendary singer and has been around for many years. He didn’t have to wait long because he got the opportunity to sing ‘It Had to Be You’ with her by his side. He took the opportunity and the performance is one that you have to see and hear to believe.

Before they started singing together, Michael decided that he would tell a joke to ease the tension. He had never met Streisand before and it was a nice introduction. He snuck up on Barbara and said:

“This is the cheapest recording session I’ve ever had… because you’re paying for it!”

Not only was it able to ease her stress, it also eased his as well. He told the camera crew behind the scenes that she was one of his idols when he was younger and he didn’t want to mess things up at this point.

“I was just so honored to be asked to do it. And the company that I’m in is incredible company to be keeping. I just wanted to show up and not let her down.”

Streisand could tell that he was nervous and she did her part to make him feel more comfortable. She wanted to add some big band style to their performance so that he would feel at home with the music. She said:

“Michael is a big band singer. So I thought, why not start it as a ballad and then have the big band take over… You can just tell by his attitude, his voice, his freedom, his sense of self. We can play [with the sound].”

The orchestra was playing behind them and they went to their sound booths and started playing around with the music. Streisand told the camera crew that the live music was necessary to create something this special.

“This is the way I’ve always recorded. Since my first album. I’ve recorded with an orchestra. It’s so much fun! I get inspired by what the orchestra’s playing and it makes me do other things that I haven’t thought of until that moment singing with them.”

It is easy to tell why she enjoys doing her singing with a live orchestra. The sound is fantastic.
