Artist Paints Tiny Rocks And It’s Hard To Believe That They Aren’t Really Animals

There are often crazes that seem to become a fad very quickly and then fade out just as quickly as they showed up on the scene. If you have been around for a few decades, perhaps you remember the pet rock. They would sell rocks, just ordinary rocks, and people would keep them as a ‘pet’. It may sound simplistic but it took off and it seemed as if teenagers just couldn’t get enough of this absurd trend.

Today, we couldn’t imagine anybody buying a pet rock. That is, of course, unless this Japanese artist got a hold of it first. Akie Nakata paints pebbles, stones, and rocks in such a way that you’re not going to believe how it looks. A normal stone is suddenly turned into a cute little creature that looks just like a tiny animal. When you see the collection and the images below, you will definitely want one for yourself.

Akie, like many artists, looks at the world in a very unique way and she has a perspective that most people don’t share. She said: “To me, completing a piece of work is not about how much detail I draw, but whether I feel the life in the stone.” Here are 25 examples of her amazing artwork.
