What vision comes to your mind when somebody says the name, Andrea Bocelli? For most people, the first thing they think about is a packed opera house with thousands of screaming fans attending the concert of a lifetime. Thanks to what he recently did on Dancing with the Stars, however, you now have something else to keep in mind. It is because Bocelli is no longer synonymous with Andrea, he is now performing with his son, Matteo and it is as good as you would ever expect.
Matteo is a 21-year-old tenor who is still training his voice but his talent is obviously something that was handed down from his father. They have been doing some songs together recently but the duet that they performed on Dancing With The Stars left the audience wanting more and standing there with tears in their eyes. The combination of their voices was absolutely flawless and you can’t help but get goosebumps and chills when you watch this talented family performing together.
The song that the father and son pair decided to perform on Dancing With The Stars is a new song that they are promoting together. It is entitled, ‘Fall on Me’ and it is from the upcoming movie, The Nutcracker and the Four Realms. They were playing the piano beside each other and singing beautifully. Nothing was going to stop them from putting on the performance of a lifetime.
By the time the song was over, it seems as if there wasn’t a dry eye in the house. Everybody was amazed by how their voices interacted with each other as they watched two Bocelli’s performing in unison.
Andrea gave an interview and talked about how he was proud of Matteo for following the music that was already in his heart.
“Matteo was raised on ‘bread and music.’ While in high school, he also studied piano at the conservatory (where he is now studying opera). He is passionate about opera and has already performed in serious venues. He seems inclined to follow his father’s footsteps, even though an artistic career is made up of many things, at times unknowable, and cannot certainly be devised at the drawing table.
Plus, he’s barely 20 years old.
But I believe ‘Fall on Me’ is a promising start besides being for both of us a highly emotional experience… because it actually is about us. The song gives voice to a son who is growing and just taking his first steps in life, with doubts and uncertainties, and to a father that reassures him, that helps him spread his wings, a father that tries — with all of the love in his heart — to transmit strong values; to give answers.
I have tried to transmit to Matteo, as well as to my eldest son Amos (who recently earned a degree in Aerospace Engineering) values that I believe in and that have made me who I am, but we have different voices and different life experiences. His talent is exclusively his – it’s not something that a father can ‘transmit.'”
It is hard to say where Matteo will take his music but it appears as if he will be just as impressive as his father.
