Andrea Bocelli and Country Singer Alison Krauss Perform Perfect ‘Amazing Grace’

Not long ago, the award-winning opera tenor Andrea Bocelli released a much-anticipated new album that the world needed during this challenging time. The “Believe” album is a deeply poignant and personal collection of some of Bocelli’s favorite songs and it celebrates music’s power and the magical ability music has to soothe and heal broken hearts. We have plenty of broken hearts in the world all the time, but this year, perhaps even more than usual. Anything Andrea Bocelli does is always beautiful, but a video of him and country singing sensation Alison Krauss is even more special than we’re used to seeing from Bocelli.

Alison Krauss has won a whopping 27 Grammy Awards, and as of 2019, that puts her third behind classical conductor Georg Solti and Quincy Jones for the most Grammy Award wins in history. She’s the most awarded female artist in the award’s history and the most awarded singer. Alison went into the music industry when she was only 10 years old and recorded for the first time at age 14, releasing her first solo album in 1987. In all, she has released 14 albums and has appeared on several soundtracks. She’s largely credited with renewing the world’s interest in bluegrass music, especially in the United States.

On Bocelli’s “Believe” album, the pair performed an absolutely beautiful rendition of a classic ancient hymn, “Amazing Grace.” Bocelli pointed out that they performed and recorded the song in compliance with local health precautions, meaning that they recorded it separately. Alison was in Nashville and Cecilia Bartoli was in Monte Carlo. They put together a work of art at a distance, which is incredible when you hear it below. Bocelli said that his album is based on three words: faith, hope, and charity, the three virtues of Christianity, but also words that mean something special regardless of religion.
