How old were you when you started to appreciate music? Many of us can point to a time when a song really moved us and at that point, it became our ‘favorite song’. When you really stop to think about it, however, children are able to move along to the music from an incredibly young age. It just seems as if it has an impact on our lives naturally, and we grow up with a love of music that sticks with us for a lifetime.
Unfortunately, many youngsters just tend to follow along with the most popular music and they may leave out some of the classics. It may be years before they gain an appreciation for some of the older music that touched our lives whenever we were younger. Every once in a while, however, there is somebody who really breaks out of that mold and shows that it is possible for people of all ages to love good music.
That is the case with this four-year-old girl who is singing a classic that is more than 10 times her age. When you hear her singing, you can’t deny the passion that she has for music. Her name is Sophie Fatu and she is an old soul in a young body. Her choice of music shows that she is ready to push beyond the popular music of the day and seek out good music that will last for decades.
Although Sophie is young, she is coming up strong in the music industry. The Frank Sinatra cover that she does on her YouTube account has millions of people falling in love with her and her abilities.
A talent scout managed to snatch up Sophie after she was on YouTube for a very short amount of time. She was able to star on Steve Harvey’s ‘Little Big Shots’ to perform for a larger audience.
That TV audience was the first time that she sang live for a group of people. Most of us would cave under the pressure but even though she had millions of eyes on her, her passion for music simply took over.
You are about to hear this young girl singing My Way by Frank Sinatra. She considers it her favorite song to sing and you can tell why. She does a beautiful job and we couldn’t imagine something better than listening to young Sophie sing.
There may have been other child singers who have taken the stage but Sophie certainly deserves a place in our heart. You can watch her performance in the video below but prepare to be amazed at what you hear. Not only will you love it, you can see the appreciation of the audience when they jumped to their feet as she sings her heart out.
