Kids don’t usually think of their teachers as being a lot of fun. And it’s hard not to blame them, after all, teachers are the folks tasked with making them think about difficult subjects. And they often issue some of the most fun-killing assignments that drive youngsters bananas! While some teachers may only think of their job as teaching a lesson plan, others see it as a lot more. But, not every teacher is bored administrator giving the bare minimum while waiting for their workday to be over. Excellent teachers see teaching as an opportunity to connect with young minds, inspire them, and encourage their success.
And when it comes to fun, vibrant teachers, A. Maceo Smith New Tech High School located in Dallas, Texas, has one teacher that really sets a new standard. Theater teacher Scot Pankey began this project as a special assignment to help motivate kids for the new semester. Just before the Christmas break, he had a brilliant idea. His school is known for teaching children tech and computer skills. However, he wanted to show off their other talents as well, such as dancing. So he put together a little music video featuring his students along with himself dancing to Bruno Mars’ infectious dance anthem “Uptown Funk.” The video begins with Pankey sitting at his desk, appearing bored out of his mind.

But then the music hits, and he gets out of his chair to start moving and growing to the song. Before too long, he’s out in the hallway being met by different crowds of kids as they execute some pretty slick coordinated dance moves together.

He hops from one group to the next, rocking out with the kids who are obviously having a blast!
Now, it turns ou the toughest part about making the video was the fact that a student had to pull the camera on a library cart. However, as you’ll see in the video below, their efforts certainly paid off big time as their little project has generated over 14 million views on YouTube alone!
