53 Y/O Mom and Her 31 Y/O Daughter Give Birth To Biological Sisters Weeks Apart

When Kelsi Pierce, age 31, and her husband, Kyle, decided to start their own family, they didn’t think they would have any problems getting pregnant.

However, after three long years, the Minnesota couple struggled to conceive their first child. They even spent the last of their life savings on treatments such as surgeries and IVF. Doctors later informed the couple that Kelsi had a low ovarian reserve.

Kelsi had undergone a successful round of IVF. However, she later learned that her uterus wall lining was too thin to carry a child.

She tried to think about her uterine wall lining for over two years, but it seemed her efforts were in vain.

Adoption or surrogacy were the only remaining options left for the couple, but neither was financially feasible.

That’s when Kelsi thought of her mother. You see, her mom, Lisa Rutherford, once discussed the possibility of becoming a surrogate for her daughter. So Kelsi decided to pick up the phone and revisit that conversation. This was a call Lisa was hoping her daughter would make.

Kelsi’s mom immediately made an appointment to see her doctor, where she started the process of gaining medical clearance to become a gestational carrier for her daughter’s baby. At 53, many would think Lisa was no longer fit to carry a child to term, but she was approved for the transfer.

The loving mom went through with the embryo transfer on February 7, 2021, and pregnancy was confirmed soon after on February 15.

After learning about her mom’s pregnancy, Kelsi decided to stop seeing the fertility doctors and taking her fertility medications.

However, Kelsi took a second pregnancy test not long after, and she and her husband could not believe their eyes! Kelsi was pregnant!

After confirming with her doctor, Kelsi was overwhelmed with emotion after enduring so many years of bad news, and she says she cried “for a month straight.”

It had only been two months, but Kelsi and her husband went from having very few options left to anticipating the birth of two children!

As the mom and daughter’s baby bumps grew together, the duo supported each other throughout their pregnancies, with Lisa saying:

The mom and daughter shared pregnancy tricks and tips and constantly face-timed each other during doctor’s appointments. They even discussed their strange pregnancy cravings!

During Lisa’s 36th week appointment, doctors learned that she had preeclampsia. The condition forced doctors to deliver the baby within the next 12 hours via caesarian section. And while she had a few complications during birth, baby Everly arrived in the world as a perfectly healthy, happy, and beautiful baby.

Then, seven weeks and three days after her mom gave birth to Everly, Kelsi brought her big sister Ava into the world.
