There are plenty of good reasons to hate flying these days. For one, it’s pretty much the norm that we have to wait in long lines throughout the entire process. We typically have to wait in traffic and long lines at the airport. For many folks, the whole experience can fluctuate between being bored and frustrated out of their minds. People often are hit with things like cancellations, delays, intrusive security screens, and all sorts of teeth grinding shenanigans, and that’s before they even set foot on the plane! And by the time everyone is safely seated on their aircraft, the very last thing in the world these tired passengers want to hear is some boring safety speech by the flight attendant.
However, in 2011 a video started going viral featuring Westjet flight Stewart, who puts a hilarious spin on the tired old procedure airplane safety speech. In the video, Michael McAdam brilliantly transforms his airline’s boring safety demo into a classic slapstick comedy routine reminiscent of Albert and Costello. The flight attendant manages to make it through most of the speech without laughing as Michael puts on a hilarious pantomimes act. As she reads the instructions for locating and using the oxygen masks and flotation devices, Michael makes silly faces and acts out everything she says with comedic perfection.
It’s unclear if Michael had ever taken improv or did stand up comedy before, but we can tell you that we would certainly pay good money to see him perform on stage!
