Miley Cyrus Goes Old School During Outrageous Lip Sync Battle With Jimmy Fallon

Miley Cyrus has become one of the most interesting, if not polarizing figures in the music industry. Many remember her as her Disney character Hannah Montana, a role which she landed when she was only 11-years-old. The show became one of the highest-rated series on basic cable and catapulted her into stardom. Since Cyrus was is the daughter of Country Music superstar Billy Ray Cyrus and the Goddaughter of  Country Music legend Dolly Parton, her role as Hanna Montana gave her the chance to create her own legacy outside of the shadows of her famous family members. However, as she grew older, the shadow of Hannah Montana loomed much larger over her career than any other as she would seek to be taken as a serious adult artist.

When she released her third album in 2010 titled “Can’t Be Tamed,” fans of her Hanna Montana persona were horrified by its lyrical content as well as Cyrus’ live performances. The album did not fare well commercially either as it only sold 106,000 copies within its first week and became her first album not to top the Billboard 200. However, if her fans were hoping the setback would convince Miley to return back to her more wholesome ways, they were sorely disappointed when in 2013 she released her new album titled “Bangerz,” which featured her now-infamous single “Wrecking Ball,” a song that has a music video featuring Miley riding a wrecking ball while nude. Since that time, Miley has definitely matured more since “soaring her wild oats,” but she’s still as edgy as ever. In this 2017 video, we see Cyrus challenge Jimmy Fallon in a lip-sync battle.

Jimmy started off with a performance using puppets as a  hat tip to recent America’s Got Talent winner Darci Lynne Farmer, he lip-syncs to “Issues” by Julia Micheals. Miley comes back with “Feel It Still,” by Portugal the Man. But, Jimmy takes it to the next level with an insane performance of Hole’s “Violet,” which included running mascara! After his performance, Cyrus quips, “It’s okay that you’re going to lose,” as she wipes the runny black tears from his face. Cyrus then hits everyone with an unusual choice. Miley puts on a huge tan oversized suit as she announces that she’s performing a song from the 1984 concert film “Stop Making Sense,” called”Once in a Lifetime” by Talking Heads. And folks, that’s when the weirdness just broke the scales!
