Man Whines About Queen’s Gaurd Who Yelled at His Mom for Touching His Horse and Internet Torches Complainer

The Queen’s Gaurd at Buckingham Palace has long been thought of as the very model of patience and discipline. Day after day, they have to deal with being mocked, teased and provoked by rude tourists trying to get a reaction. However, one guard went viral after yelling at a tourist who began touching the reins of his horse while trying to pose for a photo.

Viewers on TikTok watched the hilarious scene unfold after user @phigs_ shared the footage on July 4. Since then, the footage has gotten over five million views.

“Queens Guard Verbally Attacks My Step mum,” read the text over the video.

According to The Household Division, the Queen’s Life Guard comprises soldiers of the Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment at Horse Guards.

“When The Queen is in London, the Guard consists of one Officer, one Corporal Major (who carries the Standard), two Non-Commissioned Officers, one Trumpeter and [10] Troopers,”

But, when the Queen isn’t in London, the Gaurd is reduced to two non-commissioned officers and ten troopers.

“During most of the day the entrance to Horse Guards is guarded by two mounted sentries,” The Household Division said.

In the video, the woman walks up next to the horse-mounted guard.

She then reaches out her hand as the horse sniffs it before she turns to begin posing for a picture. But, when she moved to touch the horse’s reins, the guard immediately interrupted her forcing her to move back.

We see the woman shrink away as the Queen’s lifeguard begins scolding her.

“Stand back from the Queen’s lifeguard, don’t touch the reins,” the guard yelled at her.

The woman jumps back when the guard shouts at her, clutching her chest in shock.

“We Will Never Return To London After This Incident,” read the caption of @phigs_’s video.

It’s not clear if the poster expected messages of support. If so, he was sorely disappointed as TikTok immediately leaped to the guard’s defense.

“Serves her right you aren’t allowed to touch the guard,” a viewer said.

“That’s hilarious, they aren’t just there for tourists,” another TikTok user said.

“This is why you must know the do’s and don’ts and their culture when you travel to another country,” said a viewer.

Many noted that the guard and his horse were trying to do their job when the woman tried to take an unsolicited photo.

“They are both working they’re not ornaments,” a commenter said.

“Attacks?! I’d have shouted louder,” another viewer wrote. “They’re soldiers. Doing a job.”

Others pointed out how dangerous it was for the woman to touch his horse’s reigns.

“Nah he was well within right mate cuz when u touch the reins surprisingly the horse moves in that direction,” one viewer said.

“The reins are connected to the [horse’s] mouth, the most sensitive part of the [horse’s] body, with all that gear on one wrong tug and it could go horribly wrong,” another said. “Her fault not the guard’s.”
