Jimmy Fallon Starts Freaking Out Before Riding On Puerto Rico’s Terrorfying ‘Monster’ Zip Line

I’ll be the first to admit that I make a lot of fun of folks who do extreme sports such as sky diving, bungee jumping, and rock climbing. I honestly think risking one’s life for a “thrill” is one of the dumbest things a person can do. That said, I have a different view when it comes to things like hand-gliding and zip-lining. I don’t know why I think they are safer, because they are probably just as dangerous if not more so than some of the other activities. Then again, my feelings about these activities would probably change once I’m looking over a cliff about to jump off!

I still remember the first (and last) time I climbed the high dive tower at our local YMCA when I was about 10. It seemed like the other kids were having so much fun jumping from 50 feet in the air into the pool, so I figured why not? But, as with many things in life, once it was my turn to take the plunge, I managed to come up with plenty of “why nots.”  This was the case for Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon when he and Roots members Tarik “Black Thought” Trotter and Quest traveled down to Toro Verde, Puerto Rico, to ride on “El Monstruo,” the world’s second-largest zip line.

In this video, Jimmy starts off talking with Tarik about his zip lining experiences, as the band member mentions he’d zip-lined in Fiji, Hawaii, and New Jersey. When Jimmy turns to Quest, the band member made it very clear that he had no interest in joining his colleagues on this venture. Jimmy then confesses that he’s scared of heights and that he’s not sure “how” he’s going to do it. “I’m just going to close my eyes and go for it,” he reasons. However, once he’s geared up and standing at the edge of the platform, the host realizes that he’s bitten off more than he can chew.
