Jimmy Fallon Asks Jack Black to Perform on His Legendary Sax-A-Boom and Things Get A Little Crazy

One of the things that really makes Jack Black’s comedy so funny is how he can mix in silliness with serious expressions. He has some of the best facial expression comedy in the business right up there with Robin Williams and Jim Carrey, in that he can tell a joke just using his face. In 2018, Jack Black drooped by The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to talk about his upcoming movie “The House with a Clock in Its Walls.” During their chat, Fallon mentioned how back liked to play a specific toy instrument called a Sax-A-Boom during concerts with Grammy-Award winning band, Tenacious D.

Without missing a beat, Black explained how folks would often confuse a Sax-A-Boom with a saxophone because how similar the instruments were in appearance. That’s when Fallon surprised the comedian-actor by reaching behind his desk and pulling out a Sax-A-Boom.  Watching reverence in which Black handled the Sax-A-Boom, like it was a rare artifact, had me rolling before he even blew a note.  But once Black started his warm-up, everyone (especially Fallon) was dying from laughter.  After the “warm-up,” he launches into an insanely catchy tune, as he jumps up and jams his way over to the Roots where they join in for a genuinely epic Sax-A-Boom jam session.

Right now, if you were to look for a Kawasaki Sax-A-Boom online, you would likely only find them on sites like eBay selling for between $400 and $700! Yeah, he really wasn’t kidding when he called the toy “rare.”
