Most of us have had times in our life when someone has played a scary prank on us. This could have been something as simple as your dad jumping out from around the corner and saying boo to your brother, putting his pet snake in your lunch box. Scary pranks are always more fun for the person pulling them than for those on the receiving end, as it can feel like your hearts about to jump out of your chest. And I’m not sure which one’s worse, the ones in which you feel some apprehension before the big scare or those that hit you right out of the blue!
One person who absolutely loves pulling pranks is Ellen Degeneres, who often likes to put her celebrity guest through some pretty elaborate pranks. One of my favorites was when she filmed Dennis Quade’s meeting with an AAA tow truck driver. You see, Quade had to agree beforehand to say everything she said to him into his earpiece. Now anyone who knows Ellen knows that he had made a huge mistake. I’m pretty sure that poor tow truck driver thought all Hollywood actors must be total psychos! However, in this video, Ellen and Jimmy Fallon talk about one of her pranks that nearly made the Tonight Show host wet himself.
You see, Jimmy was a guest on her show a week prior. Ellen convinced Jimmy to shoot a particular public service announcement to encourage fans to recycle. However, as soon as Fallon goes into his speech, Ellen redirects him towards a different camera. This created the perfect blindspot for a man in a giant blue and green peacock costume to sneak up behind him. Needless to say, Fallon did not handle the scare well, as several members of Ellen’s audience sitting in the first row would attest.
