If you could take a celebrity on a car ride for a nice chat, who would it be? Would you want to drive around your favorite singer? How about a famous actor or star athlete? Honestly, I have a tough time with this question because there are so many folks I would love to have a conversation with. Back when he was still with us, I could imagine running off the road while laughing at Robin Williams in the passenger seat. I would blush and laugh my head off if I could chat with Sofia Vergara while driving. And a drive with Richard Branson would be one of the most intellectually rewarding experiences of my life.
Of course, meeting celebrities is usually more awkward than we would like. It seems like we always forget everything remotely interesting or witty to say when in their presence, then when it’s all over, we re-create the most enjoyable conversations and fun experiences that we should have had. But isn’t that just the way it goes in life? There’s always some interaction we revisit in our minds and re-shoot the scene to make ourselves come off better. I can tell you that in my head, I’m like 57-0 in schoolyard fights (most of which never happened) with one very strange no contest. Anyway, in this video, Conan O’Brien chauffers around Tom Cruise.

In the video, Conan is behind the driver’s seat addressing his fans as he tells them that he’s in London in a car outfitted with cameras about to meet a “pretty big star” for a “little adventure.” Next, we see Tom Cruises getting in the passenger side and greeting Conan with a friendly handshake. Cruise notices the cameras and gets very excited and jokes, “Are we going to do…We’re going to do…Carpool Karaoke, right?” From there, the two set off on a hilarious little road adventure in which the Hollywood Star and his friend take hysterical jabs at each other.
