It’s common for many small children to count their grandparents among some of their best friends. For me, taking a trip to grandma’s house was always like a vacation away from my worries. We would stay up late watching movies, making ice cream sundaes, and talking about life in a way I could never do with my parents. However, as we grow older, many of us lose that special connection we once had with our grandparents. Our friendships become made up of mostly people outside of our family. However, for 93-year-old Pauline “Granny” Kana and her 27-Year-old grandson Ross Smith, they are still best friends after all these years. In fact, they even started doing something rather exciting together.
It started six years ago during Smith’s tenure in college; he began filming short videos on Vine. In one video, he decided to feature his grandma blocking a basketball shot. Before, he knew the whole thing blew up all over the internet, and things were never quite the same since. The young man saw great potential in his badass grandma, so they decided to team up and become partners-in-crime. They began doing some hysterical videos and photoshoots together. Now they have 892K YouTube subscribers, as well as 2.7 million Instagram and 9 million Facebook followers, and the viral duo hasn’t slowed down.
