If you’ve been to or live in a city such as Los Angeles, New York, Nashville, or New Orleans, there’s a very good chance you’ve come across a live street music performance. These artists may just be hobbyists performing for fun and a few extra bucks, or struggling artists doing everything they can to get their names out there. Most of us may pass them by without much thought, but sometimes an act really catches our attention and makes us stop what we’re doing to watch their performance. After we’ve watched them, sometimes we might think the person’s going to be famous one day.
Most of the time, we’re wrong, but sometimes, we witness greatness in the making and can look back and tell our friends and family, “I saw (so-and-so) performing on the street before they got big!” This was the for folks who watched the earliest street performances of artists such as Rod Stewart, Tracy Chapman, Robin Williams and Christopher Reeve (yes Superman), Pierce Brosnan, Jewel, Ed Sheeran, and even Benjamin Franklin! These folks put in hours hustling on the street to show off their talents, and for all of them, their experiences made them into the people we know today. To celebrate the spirit of street performers, Miley Cyrus and Jimmy Fallon decided to put on a special show in a busy New York City subway.
In the video, we see Miley Cyrus (pretty much dressed as herself with a huge cowboy hat on) and Jimmy Fallon (wearing a crazy wig and fake beard) stepping up joining a man sitting on a milk cart while playing a plastic bucket with drumsticks and another man sitting on a large speaker playing an acoustic guitar. As soon as they step to the microphones, Miley starts singing her godmother Dolly Parton’s classic hit “Jolene.”
