Few people can compete with the brilliant Lady Gaga, both in terms of talent and accolades. After she began her music career in 2005, she was actually dropped by the first record label who signed her. However, she got right back up and shook the dust off, reinventing herself and starting all over. A part of what makes Lady Gaga exceptional is that she’s taken her life experiences and channeled them into her work. For example, when she was in college, a group of her university peers hated on her so badly that they actually created a Facebook group called “Stefani Germanotta, you will never be famous.”
In the group, her mean-spirited peers posted negative comments about her looks, her talent, and more. I don’t know about anyone else, but my haters are my motivators, as we say in our family, and we imagine that this provided a lot of motivation for the divine Lady Gaga to work hard at her success. It paid off. Since then, Lady Gaga has won 11 Grammy Awards, two Golden Globe Awards, an Emmy Award for her role in “American Horror Story,” and even an Academy Award for Best Original Song. How’s that for famous, Lady Gaga’s university peers?
For the song “Million Reasons,” Lady Gaga drew from her personal life again, but this time it was about the people, mainly men, who disappointed her. People close to Lady Gaga said that when she was in the studio one day, she was discussing her romantic relationships and said that although people have given her a million reasons to leave, all they needed to give her was one reason to stay. In other words, like so many other people, Lady Gaga is willing to give chance after chance as long as someone gives a good reason to make it all worthwhile. Isn’t that all any of us want, really?
In the video below, you can see Lady Gaga perform “Million Reasons” at a dive bar in Nashville. This is an unforgettable performance.
