I think that all of us could look back on the time when music really played a key role in our lives. It may have been when we were having a very difficult time and it just seemed as if the right song played at the right time and suddenly, we felt a lot better. Of course, we’ve all had music in our lives since the time we were very young and although the songs we listen to may change, the feelings that we get are very similar. Just think about how you felt when your favorite song played as a teenager and how you feel when it plays now. Admit it, when you are by yourself, you will sing along and perhaps even play the air guitar!
Sometimes, a song is born out of necessity to really pour out your heart about something. That is how Jonathan and Melissa Helser of Bethel music felt. They are the people behind the song, Raise a Hallelujah, and when they put on a live performance of the song, they shared the story that was behind it. It seems as if their two-year-old son had been airlifted to intensive care and then they received word that he wasn’t going to make it through the night. It seemed as if a miracle was the only thing that would save their son so he started to pour out his heart in song.
I think that all of us have been to the point where we were desperate and felt as if there was nothing we could turn to. When this song was played for the little boy, it seemed as if he responded and today, he is alive and doing quite well.
When somebody writes a song that comes from their heart, it has the opportunity to really change your life. When they sing the song for you, you can really hear it in their voice and that is what you will hear when you listen to these two singing a song that is very special to them.
