A lot of adults have had dreams in which they found themselves back in High School. I think we all fantasize about how we would have done a few things differently, knowing what we know now. Perhaps we would have asked a person we had a crush on out on a date? Or maybe we would have studied more? Fantasizing about the past is a natural part of being human. This is also one reason why our memories are so unreliable. You see, our brains don’t really differentiate between reality and fantasy very well when it comes to recalling past events. This is the main reason why eyewitness testimony is so unreliable in court.
However, if given a chance to “go back” and relive our high school years, would things truly be that different? Let’s assume we traveled back in time Quantum Leap-style into our teenage bodies. We had a lot going on in those bodies back then, with a lot of wild biological and emotional swings, can we really be sure that we could master our thinking better than we did the first time? Now, the best way to go back to high school would probably be the way Jimmy Fallon and Kevin Hart did in this video. In the 2018 video, Kevin Hart is on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to promote his new movie “Night School.” Jimmy and Kevin are both standing in the hallway of a local high school in New York City, and the host says that he thought it would be fun for them to go back to high school for a day to compete to see who is the best student. He also mentions that none of the students are aware they are there, and they’ll be crashing their classes.
As the video begins, the two men start out in math class. Jimmy enters first, and students immediately recognize him with looks of surprise. The host gives his teacher an apple to impress him. However, when Kevin makes his entrance, he’s holding a basket filled with Apple products, like iPads and iPhones, to give the teacher as he one-ups Jimmy’s gift. The rivalry continues as the men compete in classes such as gym, science, and even at lunch! The skit ends in a hilarious graduation ceremony.
