Many people still assume that only movies that do well at movie theatres are worth watching. However, these folks are missing out on tons of hidden gems that are released straight-to-DVD every week. Often, these movies have smaller budgets, but when it comes to genres such as dramas and comedies, one doesn’t need a huge budget anyway. These smaller independent films often offer high-quality stories along with fantastic acting by some of Hollywood’s biggest stars. However, there was a time when only has-been actors did these kinds of movies. However, times have changed as you can now find many A-list Hollywood stars such as Hugh Jackman, Robert Downey Jr., and Tom Hanks taking on smaller, more interesting projects that bigger studios wouldn’t bother with.
One such independent gem was a 2004 fantasy romantic comedy called “13 to 30,” starring Jennifer Garner and Mark Ruffalo. In the film, the story began in 1987. Garner plays a 13-year-old girl named Jenna, who wants more than anything to be popular. However, after a humiliating incident at her birthday party, the young girl tearfully wishes she could be 30 as she’s being sprinkled with magical wishing dust. The next morning, the girl awakens to find her self in a luxurious apartment on 5th Avenue in New York City. She’s now in her 30-year-old self’s body, with no memory of the last 17 years. She soon learns that she works for Poise, her favorite fashion magazine and that Matt (the boy she likes) is now a struggling photographer with the magazine. In this video, we see Jenna saving a very dull Poise party by walking over and having a chat with the DJ.
She soon steps to the center of the dance floor as Michael Jackson’s Thriller starts to play. She grabs Matt as the two start performing the Thriller dance moves by themselves. However, soon folks start lining up to join in as they see how much fun the duo are having out there. If only real parties were this fun!
You can watch this fun dance scene in the video below, and if you haven’t already, check out “13 to 30,” you won’t be disappointed.
