Most of us see actor Owen Wilson as an easy-going affable, goofy, all-American California dude who seems to do very well in roles in which he plays a goofy dad who has to sort of grow up along with his children but does his best to do the right thing by his family. However, in real life, it seems that Wilson’s fatherly instincts leave something to be desired, at least when it comes to his only daughter. According to his ex-girlfriend Varunie Vongsvirates, the Marley & Me actor has refused to have any contact with either her or their daughter ever since he found out she was with child.
Now, Wilson also happens to have two other children, both boys. One child, who he had with Jade Duell, is named Robert Ford. Meanwhile, Caroline Lindqvist is the mother of his other son, Finn. According to sources, Wilson enjoys a healthy relationship with both boys and is very much a big part of their lives. But, this isn’t the case for his only daughter. You see, Wilson and Vongsvirates had an off and on relationship for about five years. That ended once he discovered she was pregnant, according to Vongsvirates. She even told RadarOnline that he changed his phone number shortly thereafter.
Initially, Vogsvirates was very excited about having a child with Wilson, because she believed that he would make a wonderful father, after seeing how great he was with his two other children. She said previously:
“He will be a great dad, because he’s an incredible dad with his other two children.”

Their daughter’s name is Lyla Aranya Wilson, and it look like unless things change, she will not have the same experiences with her biological father that Wilson’s sons enjoy.
A source tells US Weekly that Wilson also took a paternity test so he could confirm if she was really his child.
“Of course if a paternity test establishes that he is the father of another child, he will fulfill all of his obligations to support his child.”
And it seems that Wilson’s treating his daughter as little more than just that, an obligation. He’s not meet his daughter since she was born on October 9, 2018. It’s said that he’s also maintained no role in her life aside from begrudgingly sending her mom money for her care.
It’s also said that despite the paternity test, Wilson has still expressed doubts about whether Lyla’s really his child. Nevertheless, the actor still pays $25,000 each month in child support and was ordered to pay $70,000 to cover the cost of a night nurse, labor coach, as well as his ex-girlfriend’s legal fees, according to the Daily Mail.
“He even checked the no visitation box in court in June…” a source told Us Weekly in 2018. “He does not want to visit [and does not] want any custody of her.”

Vongsvirates said she even begged Wilson to become a part of his daughter’s life and feels heartbroken when she sees the actor pictured with his other children.
“Owen has been a great father to his two boys and has maintained a warm and close relationship with their mothers,” a source shared.

Lyla’s mom stresses how important it is that Wilson meets and becomes a part of his little girl’s life.
“Owen has never met Lyla. Never,” Vongsvirates told DailyMail.com. “He helps financially but it’s never been about that. Lyla needs a father. It’s ironic how [Owen] keeps getting these father roles, he’s playing a father in his new movie, and he’s never met his own daughter.”
And the only message she had for her ex was this:
“You should see your daughter, she’s incredible, you’re really missing out. She looks just like you,” she said of Lyla.
Layla also happens to have blonde hair and blue eyes, the same as her father. One of the big reasons why Vongsvirates believes it’s so important that Wilson steps up is because she knows what it’s like to grow up with only one parent.
“Varunie’s mother passed away when she was still kind of young and impressionable. She knows what it’s like to grow up with one parent. She doesn’t want that to happen to her daughter,” an insider told RadarOnline.com. “She just wants her daughter to have a normal life. It didn’t work out between the two of them – that happens – but to abandon his child is rude and wrong.”
We certainly hope Wilson and Vongsvirates can work something out for Lyla’s sake. No child deserves to be ignored by their father. Here’s a video discussing the situation.
