98-Year-Old Betty White Is Set to Star in Lifetime Christmas Movie

If you’re a fan of the legendary actress Betty White, you’re in for a special treat. We have found out the joyous news that this living legend of a lady will be starring in a brand-new Christmas movie for the TV network Lifetime. In a recent press release, Lifetime shared that Betty will be starring as a “tough older woman who helps whip would-be Santas into shape and spreads the true meaning of Christmas.” Although the network hasn’t revealed the name of the movie yet or the names of any of the possible co-stars, they’ll be releasing more information in the near future, we hope. The COVID-19 pandemic has put everything on hold for the moment and production is currently halted.

With her career that spans more than 80 years, Betty Marion White Ludden has the longest-running television career of any entertainer. She is regarded as one of the most important pioneers of television and was the first woman to produce a sitcom, a show called “Life with Elizabeth.” This accomplishment earned her the honorary title of “Mayor of Hollywood” in 1955. For many years, Betty was a staple for game shows like “The Hollywood Squares,” “The $25,000 Pyramid,” “Match Game,” and “Password.” Although some would see this as cheesy work, it served the purpose of keeping Betty in front of the camera, uniquely propositioning her for the bigger roles that would come. In all, Betty White has received eight Emmy Awards, a Grammy Award, and three Screen Actors Guild Awards.

Betty White is 98 years young, and going nearly as strong as ever. Some of her best work has happened in the twilight years of her life, including the popular “The Golden Girls” series, which is her most famous role. Although Betty has maintained a successful career, she has spoken out about the known ageism in Hollywood and even once criticized reality TV, although she was careful with her words, saying “I don’t want to use language I shouldn’t use.” However, Betty has an interesting theory about why the ageism on the big screen and on TV. She says that actors get plenty of work, but it’s the writers who “have an age block.”
