Animals are amazing and if you take the time to watch them, you will only come to appreciate them more. Many people limit their animal exposure to any that might be in their home or perhaps some that might pass through their yard on occasion. What they might fail to recognize is that there are so many other wonderful animals out there and sometimes, we don’t have to travel far to see them. Of course, each part of the world is unique, so we can also use the internet to see things we might not otherwise see.
There is something interesting that happens in the Loughor Estuary marshland in Gower, South Wales. When the tide comes in, it can quickly overwhelm the area and makes it difficult for the wildlife that lives nearby. That includes the horses that inhabit the area, although they have been handling the tide coming and going for years. Every once in awhile there are problems, and that is what the RSPCA notices one day. The stage was then set for an interesting and beautiful rescue.
When they went out into the marshland that day, they saw something that was not expected. There was a young foal that was standing with his mother, which is not unusual. What was strange is that the mother was stuck. She had her rear hoof entangled in her mane and couldn’t regain her balance to stand up and walk away. Without the ability to walk, she couldn’t escape the rising tide.
It’s a good thing those men got there when they did and they knew they had to jump in and help. They were able to cut her leg free and she was able to stand up again. It did take some time for her legs to get the circulation back but when she did, she was free.
