Woman Says She’s Living The Dream With Her 9 Fluffy Newfoundland Pups

How would you describe your dream life? Or is it owning a fancy car? How about a house on the beach or all of your bills paid for life? For Mackenzie Makatche, she says she’s living her dream times nine! And they are all huge fluffy Newfoundlands.

“I grew up with our family’s first Newfoundland. He was about a year older than me and died when he was 13. My parents were initially attracted to the breed because they wanted a dog that was good with kids and similar to a Lab.”

And what surprises people the most is the fact that she didn’t breed them. The family bought all of the dogs, and Makatche has known three of the Newfoundlands since they were puppies.

“We never have and still don’t intend to breed often, only when we have time to properly raise a litter,” Makatche says. “The crew has expanded gradually over the past nine years as my mom fell more and more in love with the breed.”

But, she did decide to start an Instagram, dedicated to her nine canine kids. And it proved to be a smash hit with dog lovers around the world!

“I really didn’t have any intentions other than sharing pictures of my dog for anyone who cared to see. I was in college and knew most of the people who knew me personally didn’t care to see daily dog pictures on my personal account.”

Her pup’s account now has over 40,000 followers who love to lap up every “newf” update. However, Makatche has even bigger plans for her dogs. Between Duncan, Guinness, Storm, Coeli, Murphy, Skyy, Oliver, Aisling, and Belle, three have already completed training to become full-fledged therapy dogs. Two more are currently in training.

She would like to have all nine of her pups trained as therapy dogs so that they can help others, especially children.
