The ‘Chonkiest’ Cat in the World Is Looking for Someone to Love Him

I’m a cat lover, and I’ve had more than my share of feline companions in my life. We have a house full of cats right now. However, for some reason, the Maine Coon breed of cats slipped under my radar for years. It wasn’t until last year that I heard of this big beautiful breed of cats. As the largest domesticated cat breed, Maine Coons have a distinctive physical appearance and they’re native to the state of Maine. They’re one of the oldest natural cat breeds in North America. But how big are they exactly? A Maine Coon can weigh from 13 to 18 pounds and are between 10 and 16 inches in height. As far as length, the Guinness World Records has recorded a Maine Coon that is 48.5-inches long.

A photo of a cat has surfaced that has me wondering if a tabby has been crossed with a Maine Coon. Now, Maine Coons can have any number of markings, but usually, they’re long-haired or medium-haired. The cat in a photo posted by a Philadelphia animal shelter looks like a short-haired cat, but he’s big enough to be a Maine Coon. BeeJay is a brown and white tabby cat who weighs a whopping 26 pounds. According to the shelter staff, this adorable chunk of a cat has an adorable personality and would make someone a wonderful companion. When the Morris Animal Refuge posted on their Facebook page that they were looking for a loving home for BeeJay, they described him as a “CHONK.”

In fact, the shelter staff went even further and said that he’s a “chonk of a chonk.” The thing is, BeeJay doesn’t look “fat” to me. He’s just a big dude. I’ve seen fat cats, but he just seems meaty and solid. That’s why I’m thinking he may be a mix with some Maine Coon or another big cat breed. He just looks super big and healthy. The shelter is urging someone to “adopt this jumbo-sized package of fluff and love, and help this sad-eyed guy find happiness.”

The staff says that the response from the public in support of BeeJay has been overwhelming. They’ve not posted an update yet as to whether or not this big guy has gone to his forever home.
