Rare White Reindeer Calf Poses For Adorable Pictures In Norway

You never quite know what you’re going to run into when you’re out on a hike. A 21-year-old man went out for a hike in Oslo, Norway recently and saw something that he never could have expected. His name is Mads Nordsveen and he is a photographer, so he often plans out his hiking locations in advance so he can do a little photography. In his words, “you cannot plan magical moments” but he managed to come across one and get some stunning photographs recently. It happened when he was hiking and something caught his eye, it was a white reindeer calf.

Mads was talking with a popular news outlet and said that he was so taken by the sight of the reindeer that he almost forgot to take pictures of it. It turns out that it seemed to be just as curious of the human that was close to him as he was about it. He said: “It was a very special moment, felt so magical. We looked straight into each other’s eyes. I was actually so stunned that it took some seconds before I got reminded by my photographer instinct to grab the camera and save the moment forever!”

One of the reasons why he got so excited is because white reindeer calves are very rare to see. The indigenous people believe that white reindeer bring joy and it almost seemed as if this little guy was willing to pose for the pictures while he took them.

Mads said that he didn’t approach the deer but stayed quiet and still until the calf came over to him. These are amazing shots and no need to panic, just enjoy the pics.
